Changing the Universe design
The Admissions Universe structure has been designed to be more accessible and more easily navigable.
Data have been categorised by Applications, Applicant & Staff.
Applications Class
The Applications Class contains an overarching list of objects that are frequently used in application reporting.
The Applications class also contains a series of sub-classes that hold application information by EUCLID function to aid selection i.e. Clearance Checks, Decisions, Decision Record Log, Generated Communications, PG Referee Details, UF Referee Details, Application Distribution Log, Recommendation & Interview Event, PGR Supervision, PG Funding, UG External Applications.
Applicant Class
The Applicant Class contains an overarching list of objects that are frequently used in applicant reporting. This data is specific to the applicant and unlike the applications data is a one-to-one relationship, whereas an applicant may have multiple applications submitted to the University at one time.
The Applicant class also contains a series of sub-classes that are pertinent to the Applicant’s personal details i.e. Home Details, Contact Details, Special Circumstances, Fee Related Data History, Qualifications & Experience, Previously Held Qualifications (UG only), Previous Secondary School (UG only).
Staff Class
The Staff Class contains University Staff data pertinent to EUCLID system access.
Changing Object labels
During the re-design of the Admissions Universe the object labels were reviewed and updated to reflect the EUCLID system field name and the nature of the data as much as possible.
Where an object label differed between undergraduate and postgraduate systems a compromised title was reached to allow both business areas to identify the object.
Where an object is only used by Undergraduate or Postgraduate business, these have been labelled to make this easily identifiable e.g.
Providing improved Object Descriptions
Each object within the new Admissions Universe has a full description attributed to it to assist report writers in selecting the appropriate objects.
This description can be viewed in 2 ways:
1. Pop-up display:
Hover your mouse over the object you wish to view the description for and view the pop-up window.
2. Screen display:
Click on the object you wish to view the description for and view the text.
Grouping Objects
Objects have been grouped together by business relationship, rather than alphabetically.
Those objects most frequently used in reporting have been made available within the overarching object list to aid quick and easy selection.
Where possible, undergraduate & postgraduate objects have been grouped together to avoid selection within the wrong business area.
