A universe maps to the data in the database, but uses everyday terms that describe your business environment. This means that you can select exactly the data that interests you using your own business terminology.

BOXI maps to various universes used to report on data held across the university, however, throughout this course we will be concentrating on the Admissions universe, which looks specifically at application data held for undergraduate and postgraduate applicants, retained by the EUCLID system.

When it comes to creating a new report or editing an existing report we will see that Universes are made up of objects & classes. Classes are the folders that contain objects.

Objects are representative of data within the EUCLID system i.e. the fields that are populated with application data have an object within the admissions universe that can be selected and used in reports.
