Add a New Course Option

The Course Options for the Arabic and French (MA), Year 1 DPT are displayed below. These can be edited using the series of hyperlinks at the top of the screen.

Click the Add a new option hyperlink.

To add an individual course to the DPT select Course from the drop down list alternatively select the collection type from Programme, Subject or School.

Select Subject Collection and click  to open the screen below.

The Collection Code field is automatically populated with the Subject Collection prefix SUB_

Continue typing the subject collection code into the dynamic list box and select from the drop down list.

Alternatively, clear the field and start typing the collection name, making use of wildcards.

Select a collection from the drop down list to populate the field with the subject collection code.

Click  to open the screen below.

The Course/Collection field displays the collection code and name.

Some additional information is required before the course option can be added.

A three digit Sequence Number needs to be entered. This allows DPT Editors to control the order in which course options appear in the DPT.

As a general rule sequence numbers should be added in multiples of 10, however if a new option is being added to an existing group it may be necessary to enter a sequence number in smaller increments.

The last sequence number in this DPT is currently 040 and as the new course option should appear after this, a sequence of 050 should be applied.

Next add any relevant notes specific to the collection that you want displayed alongside the course option.

Finally update the Period and Period Selection information if applicable.

Click  to add the course option and return to the DPT Amend screen.

The new course option has been added to the DPT and appears in a separate box. Note that the course options are displayed in order of their sequence number i.e. 040, 050

The next step is to add an operand to display the relationship between the two course options. In this case the student will be selecting courses from both collections requiring the AND operand to be added.

In system terms the AND operand is implied by default, however adding it will result in the course options being displayed more clearly to the student.

Click the Add Operand hyperlink.

Select the AND operand from the drop down list and click .

If the Store is successful a confirmation message will be displayed.

Click the Go Back to DPT link to return to the Amend DPT screen and view the updated course options.

The final step is to update the number of credits that can be selected from the subject collection. Click the Edit collection credits hyperlink to add this information.

The Edit Collection Credits screen will be displayed.

Update the Minimum and Maximum SCQF credits that can be selected in the Min/Max fields above. Entering the same value in both fields indicates that exactly that amount of credits should be selected.

Click , if the store is successful a confirmation message will be displayed.

Click the Go back to DPT link to return to the Amend DPT screen and view the changes.

The number of credits to be selected from the collection has been updated.

To view the courses included in the collection click the Subject Collection hyperlink.

Click  to return to the DPT Amend screen.
