Degree Programme Tables

Introduction to Degree Programme Tables

Information on the programmes of study offered by the University of Edinburgh and the regulatory framework by which these are governed are published online in the Degree Regulations and Programmes of Study (DRPS).

Contained within the DRPS are Degree Programme Tables (DPTs). These DPTs identify the normal regulated path for a degree programme including the curriculum a student will follow i.e. compulsory courses, optional courses and the set of rules managing course selection.

The DRPS is currently delivered via the web and is available to anyone to view. The DPTs appear as static web pages which are updated each year to reflect any changes to the degree programme.

As part of the Curriculum Management project, DPT information will be migrated, held and maintained within EUCLID in a rules based format replacing the existing DPT pages within the DRPS.

This rules based format will enable students to select appropriate courses using the Online Course Self Selection tool when it is made available.

The DPTs will therefore have to be translated into rules which EUCLID will use to add core courses to a student’s timetable and provide them with valid optional courses to select from.

This user guide details the process of how to create and maintain rule based DPTs in EUCLID.

Migration of Existing DPTs

DPTs have initially been created in EUCLID by migrating DPT information from what is currently held in the DRPS. This process involved interpreting the existing DPTs and storing them in the rules based format.

During the migration process, a number of school and college staff were given access to view the DPTs in EUCLID and asked to provide feedback on any changes required.

From March 2009 school and college staff with the appropriate DPT Editor access will be able to directly amend and create DPTs within EUCLID.
