Delayed Confirmation Process

A confirmation Reject By Default procedure takes place at UCAS mid September. The dates vary each year. Please refer to the UCAS website to determine the date of the procedure for this year.

For 2015: 10/Sep/2015

‘Stops’ can be recorded from beginning September to prevent the applicant being Rejected by Default for applicants who have not yet received exam results but will receive them by October.

These applicants will be Rejected by Default in October instead.

Delayed Confirmation Decision - DCF

Some applicants take examinations with results that are published after the final RBD in October. The results of Access courses or tests in English language proficiency, for example, are frequently received after this date. In such cases you will be able to use a Delayed Confirmation (DCF) decision to delay confirming a place if there are outstanding conditions.

This decision will be available at UCAS from early Sept to October.

An RBD process will be run at the beginning of December to reject any DCF applicants who have not yet had their place confirmed.

DCF can only be used for applicants that are CF and should not be used where a Confirmation ‘Stop’ should be recorded instead.

Once the relevant results are received institutions can confirm (U) or reject (R) a DCF application.

A management report in web-link shows all applicants where the institution has made a DCF decision.

Institutions must contact applicants to advise them that their place cannot be confirmed as there are outstanding conditions and the place will be held for the applicant until early December, or an earlier date if appropriate. The applicants’ UCAS Track record will show Delayed Confirmation.

The Delayed Confirmation Decisions should be sent to UCAS via EUCLID and not via Weblink.

How to key DCF decisions in EUCLID client

The applicant will be CF in ACD with no confirmation decision yet recorded.

Change the Qualification Status to DC, Click on the Stage to 2 radio button and enter a confirmation decision of D. Store the record.

The record will lock and will be in the ZZZ holding batch.

Go to Approve Decisions (RCD), retrieve the applicant, select ‘Send to UCAS’ from the dropdown menu, and then press the ‘This Record’ button.

When UCAS acknowledge the decision the record will be unlocked.

Confirming applicants who are in a Delayed Confirmation State

Change the Qualification Status as appropriate – NQ or NF, change the Confirmation decision from D to either Reject or Unconditional, change the stage 2 response from F to blank and store.

Again the record will lock and the decision will need to be processed via RCD.
